Dad trying out his new space

Dad's Belated Christmas Present

Well, Dad FINALLY got an indoor parking space, thanks to Carl's hard work! We found an assortment of items, including Chris & Mark's spare dish washer for the boat! Imagine Carl's surprise! (That item is safely stored now!)

Nancy's Birthday

I was able to help celebrate Nancy's 60th birthday with other family and friends! Nancy doesn't look 50! We have grown up with her and her sister Laura and have been life long friends! Happy 60th Nancy! We love you!

Christmas Memorial for Mom

Dad & I enjoyed a Memorial Celebration with Robinson Memorial Hospice today. What a great feeling being able to remember Mom once again. Dad had a couple of tears but we enjoyed the visit with our "angels"!

(From left to right: Karin, our nurse, me, Dad, Stacy, our dear nurse who never failed me, and Dina, our social worker. Without these women I don't know how we would have made this journey!)

God knows that I really needed the support and comfort! These women will always be remembered!

Mayan Adventure

We arrived at a Catholic Church just as mass was ending. The parade of flags was beautiful as the members exited the church. The Mayan children entertained us in the courtyard of the church where we ate lunch and enjoyed the festivities. There were fireworks, music and lots of smiles to go around. Bob really showed what he was made of, dancing with the young Mayan girl. Way to go Bob!

Eating, eating & more eating

Food is plentiful and the fine dining, exquisite. The lamb was my personal favorite. Bob was a little sad because he couldn’t have “applesauce” or “raspberry sherbet”. Poor Bob, no treats for him. The rest of us feasted on all sorts of delightful food.

Sunsets

The sunsets were unbelievable and the sea colors amazing! The photos don’t show the true colors.

Love is in the Air

The views were breathtaking. We all enjoy each others company!

Our Ship Adventures

The views were breathtaking and the food wonderful. Here are several photos of us enjoying our cruise.

Caribbean Cruise 2008

December 2008

Bob & Midge Ebie, and Carl & I had planned this cruise for a year! The Ebie's are a long time farm family and also active members in the Farm Bureau. The Bureau sponsored this cruise and Bob asked Carl if we would be interested! Yes sir, we sure are! We have wanted to go on a cruise for a long time and figured that we would have a great time with Bob and Midge!

We took a bus from N Canton to Mobile, Alabama. (Did I mention that it took 18 hours and NONE of us would do that again! No room to move, couldn’t sleep, etc.) We actually had to stay awake to keep the driver awake! Scary!!

Evenings in camp

Thanksgiving 2008

After a wonderful meal we enjoy the quiet of the woods, the flame of our campfire and camp stories. We sleep peacefully, listening to the river just behind our camp and the occasional snore of someone, whom we won't mention! (Love you Frank)

Taking a break

Thanksgiving 2008

Rose is always on the go and decides to take a few minutes fireside.

Carving the meat

Thanksgiving 2008

To say the least, we enjoy the company of anywhere from 50 to 75 friends and family for dinner. Each family brings a dish to pass and a feast is at hand! Assiting with the turkey carving this year is cousin Dolly Jean and Frank Josza.

The Vintage People Arrive

Thanksgiving 2008.

Dad & Mom arrive and we assist them with their transportation to camp. Nothing like riding in style. The idea was Bob and Robert. NOtice the chairs in the front loader for Mom & Dad. Great idea!

Thanksgiving 2008

Thanksgiving 2008
Here we are in the woods, which has been a long time tradition. Bob and Rose actually started this back in 1978 for Thanksgiving at Punderson Lake and now we have our traditional family Thanksgiving. Many of us spend the entire weekend primitive camping (outhouse included) and have a home cooked meal for family and friends on Saturday. Chef Bob cooks 2 or 3 turkeys over an open fire, while Rose, Kendra & I enjoy preparing the remainder of the meal, enjoying a beer or glass of wine while doing so. We do bring some "tools" to make camp more enjoyable!

Master Closet

Finally, the master bedroom is complete. We just look around in amazement! Only took just under 2 years to complete! The total project included the family room, dining room and old bedroom (which now is a hallway and walk in closet). We doubled out hanging space and I actually have my clothes in the master closet! First time in years! Chris & Aunt Jeanne won't have to live out of suit cases when they visit! Yeah!!!!

Dad love to help and came up with a great idea for connecting the shelves. He suggested we use a tool (name unknown) which you drill the pilot holes and then screw in.

Mom

Mom is always handy and gives great supervision! Can't thank her enough for all her advise!

I forgot to add this photo when we cut down the maple tree!

July 2007

I asked Carl to show me how to operate the backhoe. I actually back filled the foundation without knocking down any walls! Not bad for a first timer!

June 2007

Finally getting under roof! We weathered a severe hail and rain storm before the frame was constructed. I had to jump into the basement and put up the downspout, which took water outside of the foundation. The guy that was putting foam into the block walls had to come to my rescue! I couldn't do it alone. After I got out of the basement and checked myself for injury later that evening, I found I had quite a few bruises on my back, arms and head from the large hail. OUCH!

June 2007

Can't believe we had concrete

Is this Mom approved?

I wonder what Mom would think about this? Don't tell on me Grandma!

June 2007 Finally under way!

Finally broke ground and started putting in the foundation. Changed the size of the master bedroom many times! Carl and I decided that this project was going to be sub contracted out! That's a first for us as we have built vertically everything ourselves over the years! Of course, we micro-managed everything! Had to be up to our standards!

A house divided!

This all started in June 2007. I wanted to share our "experience" with our family and friends. For those of you who know the layout of our home, we divided off the dining room from kitchen and family room. We actually had to go out the back breezeway door to get to the family room. We did that all winter! Burr! It sure got cold some days! Did I mention all the dust and dirt?
